Not Socks

Damn, it's been a while since I knit something other than socks.  I bought a skein of this yummy alpaca yarn at the Point a few weeks ago with the vague idea of making a cowl.  At first it was going to to be a simple ribbed tube, but I think I started dozing off during the third round.  Then I remembered the Cherry Garcia pattern over at Hello Yarn, and after a quick gauge check saw that the yarn would work perfectly.  This was a quick one - I started it on Wednesday night, and after a couple of scattered hours of knitting here and there bound off around 8 last night, and the Martian helped me spray and block.

Cowl_fix

YARN:  1 skein Chunky Misti Alpaca (doesn't seem to be on the Point's website, and these guys have the best color cards online.  100% baby alpaca, people.  Insert sound effects of Homer Simpson-style ecstasy here,) color 7238 (evocative, no?  Let's go with "green.")
NEEDLES: Size 10 Denises, 16" cable

I went down a needle size to make it a little more snug.  Damn, but alpaca blocks nicely.  Now all I need is some winter weather.  Given what this winter's been like so far, what are the chances, do you think?

All hail the queen of accessories! And you got your cold weather today, baby.

And it's my FAVORITE shade of 7238, too!!!

Looks yummy, I bet it feels yummy. And yeah, we haven't had any yet, so we're just hoping for no winter in June or July up here. (although today is a brisk 9F. But yesterday morning it was 50. WTF?)

Looks great! And WARM! Which you'll need this weekend, since, as Norma said, it's dropped like 30 degrees in five hours it seems. I've had a headache for two days with all of this up and down.

Seems like you got your wish already. Wear it well!

Mmm...green. Mmm... baby alpaca. *drool*

Beautiful! I need me some immediate gratification knitting...hmmm. stay warm.

Tomorrow is supposed to be really cold.
I love it! Great color. Must feel like heaven.

Yep, here's the chill needed for the neckwarmer. I'm not ruling out one of those early April dumps of snow either.

Oh, I don't know...the weather's been pretty cold for the past couple of days here, so I'm guessing it's made its way East by now.

That looks beautiful! I really like the big cables. Baby alpaca is the greatest.

Pretty! Love that green, love baby alpaca softness, love chunky cables...so I guess I'm saying I love it. ;)

Good FO pic too. :)

i love that! great job on it!

That looks fantastic! I immediately bookmarked that pattern and must cast on for it as soon as I finish these socks. Ok maybe before. Maybe.

Sweet, I'm "these guys"!

And I totally have a skein of that color sitting in my stash, and an E.T. length neck that needs covering.

HEY, I think I finally, FINALLY found the perfect pattern for some very cool Scottish yarn that I bought LAST YEAR (in Vegas, no less :-). I have searched and searched to no avail. Thanks!

Gorgeous! I looove cowl's, I can't wait until it's winter here so I can wear them all day long :)
The colour and the pattern are just fab, great job
MissMeshell xx
