INSAKNITY (in-SA-knit-ty) - A delusional state in which, despite all evidence to the contrary, one chooses to believe that one can create her very first 3-stitch bobble while transferring between trains at 59th Street.
I'm about halfway through the Tubular Camisole by Glampyre, and there are a few firsts (for me, anyway) in this mostly simple pattern. First time doing short-row bust shaping, and first time with the bobbles (I keep typing "boobles", which actually seems like a more appropriate name,) but after some trial and error with both, they're behaving themselves quite nicely.
I'm still experimenting with the tension - the stitches before each booblage seem a little gappy and I've had to tighten them up in post, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
Yarn is Cotton Fleece in Pumpkin (which doesn't appear on their website), acquired in the company of a certain enabler in Chicago. I've owned maybe three vests or vest-like things in my lifetime, but for some reason I think I'll be wearing them a lot this fall. After Tubular, I'm whipping up one of these (thanks to Jessica for fueling this obsession - she has a few more versions linked here and here.) I've also got a mostly-finished Cleaves to wrap up...so to speak. Yeah, I'd say that I'm definitely not thinking about summer knitting any more. Bring on the wool!
That being said, I find myself compelled to admit that this is possibly the best use of novelty yarn that I've ever seen.
