Inspired by Miss Cari's recent adventures Confronting And Reducing The Stash, I went through the bags and bins (and bags and bags and OH MY GOD SO MANY BAGS) this weekend, and managed to reduce my own formidable pile of yarn by a single skein. And then I saw Regina today and she totally blew that for me by sending me home with THREE hefty skeins of Noro Transitions. I don't know why I even bother.
But back to that de-stashing I mentioned.
Another cowl. Unpredictable, aren't I? But I only had a skein's-worth, and I know I'll wear this more than a hat.
Check the awesome texture of this handspun:
I picked it up from Insubordiknit a little less than a year ago. Her yarn names are the greatest - who wouldn't want to knit with Moldy Popcorn or Last Year's Wedding Cake? I think this was called Black Rain, but I lost the tag so I'm not sure. She also has an excellent recipe for Chickpea-A-La King on her site (see Feb. 25 entry.)
The whole thing took about 45 minutes on size 15 circs. I cast on 44 stitches, decreased to 36 after a couple of inches, and kept on buzzing until I ran out of yarn.
I tried to get a modeling shot, but made the mistake of going into Photoshop with it, so I ended up with something less representational and more New Wave. Doesn't give you much cowl detail, but I'm amused by how it looks kind of like an album cover from the '80's.
Keep feelin' fascination...
